Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah International Convention Centre (SICC) has taken up the challenge to hold the 3rd International BigSabah Sale on a bigger scale next year.
When contacted, the SICC Chief Executive Officer Datuk Hajah Rosmawati Lasuki’s answer was in the affirmative.
Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Datuk Seri Christina Liew threw the challenge when launching the recent 2nd International BigSabah Sale.
“It is not impossible for the third edition to scale new heights. I know you (SICC) have the capacity to do it. Get more countries to participate in this international event, including the BIMP-EAGA.
Together, we can build lasting relationships that will enhance the visibility and economic prosperity of all our countries,” she told the organisers.
Liew also encouraged SICC to organise visits to neighbouring countries for participants’ exposure and gaining new experience.
This year saw the participation of 315 booths, including 30 from Brunei, 10 from Thailand, four from Indonesia, two from the Philippines, and 10 from GM Klang, Malaysia’s leading wholesale city.
Rosmawati said she had already started talking with potential participants from various countries.
“I met all the international vendors, and they have pledged to join BigSabah sale next year with bigger numbers.
They have also invited us to visit them and they will arrange networking and marketing sessions with their local industries for mutual benefits,” she told Daily Express.
